Looking for Health in Soft Drinks

September 2, 2008: 12:44 PM EST
Healthy soft drinks are the new trend in non-alcoholic beverages, says Global Industry Analysts, as consumers move away from carbonated products. The result is that demand is brewing for niche segments like ready-to-drink tea and coffee-based beverages. Functional additions such as vitamins and minerals will be joined by herbs, nutrients and other emerging compounds in an increasingly global market, the report says. Healthier products will also ensure growth within the bottled water market. Another change in the industry will be a shift of focus away from the previous core-consumer group of under 14-year-olds, because the population is aging.
