Protein Breakfast Controls Urge to Eat

June 18, 2008: 04:54 PM EST
Eating more protein in the morning helps create the feeling of being full throughout the day and could help dieters lose weight, according to a new study. Dr Daniela Jakubowicz, from Virginia Commonwealth University, has been recommending a hearty breakfast to her patients for 15 years and told a conference in San Francisco that a small breakfast may boost food cravings. A greater sense of fullness is experienced after a high protein breakfast compared to when more protein is eaten at lunch or dinner, adding to the growing body of research on the benefits of eating protein to help in weight management.
